This scary season, Netflix will release its newest TV series from Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) with his forthcoming adaptation of Christopher Pike’s novel, midnight club. Although the series will feature a star-studded cast of young talents playing young children who tell each other scary stories. A new behind-the-scenes video from Netflix shows not only a look at how the show was made, but some new details about what’s going to happen in the story as well, like how virtually all the actors perform double duty throughout the series. “midnight club It is the story of those young people in the hospice who are going to die,” Flanagan says in the video. The basic idea of the Midnight Club is that they meet at night to tell each other. Our stories are all about what happens inside the hospice itself. Our Class B stories, the independent stories that children tell each other, are wide open….ghosts, witches, monsters, werewolves, cyborgs, aliens, demons, killers…this makes it a playground for filmmakers. “
He continued, “Christopher Pike wrote The Midnight Club. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. It was a dream project for me as a way to see a lot of the stories we loved when I grew up on screen. . . Fans of Christopher Pike will be able to look forward to celebrating his work. This isn’t Just one story. This is a dive into his library.”
Netflix describes The Midnight Club as follows: “In a nursing home for terminally ill young people, eight patients gather every night in the middle of the night to tell each other stories—and make a pact that the next person dies will give the group a mark on their aftermath. Based on the 1994 novel in which It bears the same name as well as other works by Christopher Pike.
